Musical Evening

Musical Evening

“Rinngg” the school went. School was finish for the day but guess what? After school at 6:00pm there is going to be ....... A MUSICAL EVENING! I was so excited! I went home and got ready. At 5:30pm there was a Sausage Sizzle before the actual event.

I went to school and I rushed into the classroom so I could get my skirt from Mrs Moodley. When I walked into class everybody looked elegant and sophisticated. Everybody was wearing black and white. Girls wore long black skirt and the white school blouse. The boys wore black long pants, long white sleeved shirts and a waist coat plus a bowtie. We took some photos before we went to the hall.

After taking photos we all lined up in our classes then we all walked into the hall in excitement. When we walked in the hall I saw families, parents and my family too. Everybody was finally settled so we could get started. Lavinia started us off with a prayer.

Class after class after class came up and performed. I really enjoyed watching the classes perform. Room 3 sand Puppet on a String and Somewhere out There. .

First they sand Puppet on a String. They looked so bright with their colourful T-Shirts. Next they sang Somewhere out There. The soloists were Ana and Rachel, they sang beautifully. Next it was our classes turn to perform.

I walked with excitement to my instrument. I was play the Mini Marimba. We were playing a Medley. I enjoyed playing in front of everyone. To entertain people Leone jumped around and clapped his hands. The Crowd went Wild.
My favourite item was the Noizy Boyz. It was a group of boys playing drums. It was superb! The crowd was just screaming at the top of their lungs.

The final act was A’leina singing but  everybody sang along too. It was great to see everyone having fun. Everybody was laughing.
We weren’t quite finished for the night.  We had to say goodbye to a very special person.... Mrs Koloti as it was her last week with us. She was going to have a baby girl. FAREWELL MRS KOLOTI!  She sat in a chair while the Year 8 girls sang a Farewell song to her.
Then the night was over. Everyone rushed out of the hall and it was dark. It was great for everyone to share their talents. I hope that we do this again.

Cross Country

On a sunny and hot Friday afternoon the whole school got ready for..... Cross Country! I was so excited but kind of nervous at the same time. Our class (Room 6) had a shared lunch with chips, muffins, biscuits and more. I got changed then I went to the shared lunch.

The bell rang and everybody lined up in their classes and the teachers talked about what was going to happen next. We all walked in excitement to the tennis courts and lined up in our age groups.

The Juniors went first. They ran around the hall, around the church, then around the tennis courts and then sat down. The Seniors cheered loudly for the Juniors as they ran. All the Juniors ran and then it was time for the Seniors to run. The 13 year olds ran first so they were in the front then the 12 year olds, and finally it came to my turn to run. My heart was beating so fast it almost jumped out of my chest. Miss G yelled, “Get ready, set, GO!”

I jogged in the beginning and ran and ran. I took Mrs Moodley’s advice when she said to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth. I was running with Genevieve and she already had a stitch at the beginning of the race, I told her told her to breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth, so she tried it, and it worked plus her stitch went away.

I ran and I was almost up to the finish line. I ran up the driveway into the courts and Miss G said, “Run around the courts once then sit.” So I did and I came 5th. When everybody finished their races Miss G said, “Well Done!” to all of us.

After the races Dawn and I had to go film our presentation for SPX TV but I was so exhausted I didn’t feel like going. I was so proud of myself and that I finished the race and came 5th.

Tug of War

Victory for Room 6!

Yesterday, I was lucky to watch the Paris Games Tug of War. The Room 6 team entered the event centre. The men walked into the Stadium and the crowd went Wild. The London City Police Officers were also present and there were picnics and County Fairs. There were eight men chosen for each team. To defeat their opponents team members had to pull the other team six feet from the mark to win. The two amazing teams pulled and pulled, they were sweating and the crowd just didn't stop cheering and shouting. 5 minutes to go Room 6 pulled even harder, 10 seconds left the crowd counted down from 10, the teams pulled and pulled. 3, 2, 1! In those few seconds Room 6 pulled the other team six feet. VICTORY! What a tragic loss for the other team. The crowd jumped out of their seats cheering and shouting. Everyone shouted as loud as their voices could go. Those 8 men will never forget the day they made VICTORY!

Women's Basketball

Women’s Basketball

Women’s Basketball is one of the Olympic Events. There are 14 players on a team, but there are only 6 players on court and the others are reserves. To play basketball you have to play fairly, train hard and be fast.

Women’s Basketball is where 2 teams compete against each other to win. So they try to shoot the ball into the hoop to get a point. If they shoot from the 2 pointer line, then they add 2 points to the score just like if you shoot from the 3 pointer line. There are 4 quarters in one Basketball Game.

An example is yesterday's event where the USA competed against France. In the first quarter USA was in the lead. In the last few seconds USA managed to defeat France. The USA celebrated their  Victory!

Basketball is an enjoyable sport that anyone can play!

ThemeThe theme about this story is that family is very important and when family leaves your side you're lost.

On a blazing and hot day Mother and Father Giraffe found out that they were going to have a baby giraffe.  How excited they were! But there was a problem - they kept moving from place to place and did not have a stable place to have their baby giraffe. They kept on traveling from place to place trying to find a safe place to have the baby giraffe.  They finally came to a safe place and they thought that no one lived there in that cave. The leaves covered the sign that said: Keep out! Vicious Lion! They walked in and no one was in the cave. The Father giraffe went hunting for some food for the Mother giraffe and himself.

While the father giraffe was out hunting the Vicious Lion arrived in the cave. Mother giraffe was taking a nap and the Vicious Lion attacked Mother giraffe! Father giraffe arrived in the nick of time and attacked the Vicious Lion. They had a fierce brawl. Father giraffe told Mother giraffe to go away before she got hurt! Mother giraffe went as fast as she could. There was blood everywhere in the cave, Father giraffe ran as fast as he could out of the cave and The Vicious Lion roared as loudly as he could.

The sun began to set and Father giraffe couldn’t find Mother giraffe. He lay down to go to sleep and Mother lay down to go to sleep but before she went to sleep she prayed and prayed that Father giraffe would find her. The sun rose the next morning and Father giraffe did not give up looking for Mother giraffe. Days went by and Father giraffe still couldn’t find Mother giraffe it was like he lost her and would never see his baby giraffe grow up. He still went looking for her.

Mother giraffe had her baby giraffe without the Father giraffe there.  The baby giraffe was a boy! When the baby giraffe was only two weeks old Father giraffe finally found Mother giraffe and baby giraffe. Two happy months went by and then disaster struck again. Baby giraffe went missing. The Vicious Lion kidnapped the baby giraffe and the baby giraffe had no idea what was going on. Mother and Father giraffe went hunting and hunting and they did not stop looking and searching for the baby giraffe. The baby giraffe was terrified. While The Vicious Lion went out hunting for food, baby giraffe pretended to sleep and The Vicious Lion thought baby giraffe was really sleeping so The Vicious Lion just left him in the cave. Baby giraffe managed to escape from the cave before The Vicious Lion got back home. But he was lost and did not know where to go. He was wandering  through the Savanna. He went to where he got kidnapped and hoped to see his parents there but when he got there his parents had gone looking for him. He stayed there waiting for his parents. Some photographers came to visit the Savanna. They saw baby giraffe and as soon as their cameras started flashing he ran away as fast as he could! Finally his parents found him crying in the bushes. How happy they were to see their baby giraffe again. The hugged and hugged then they all went and hunted for some dinner. They all were happy and their family was complete and no one was missing!

HOWICK HISTORICAL VILLAGE

On a sunny and blazing  Friday morning the St. Pius X Catholic School Seniors went on a trip to Howick Historical Village! I was so excited. Most kids wore olden day clothes. The bell rang and all the kids lined up. We all walked chatting about what would it be like? On one bus Room 6 and 5 and on the other was Room 3 and 7. I sat next to Siniva on the bus.
We finally got to Howick Historical Village, in Pakuranga. We walked into the entrance. It was like I was in the 1800s. A lady called Mrs White introduced herself and all the other ladies that were going to show us around.  We were going to Howick Historical Village because our Topic was Past Present and Future. All the ladies wore dresses that puffed out at the bottom. Our first activity was Parlour Games, but first we  had morning tea. I had morning tea with my friend Julia. After morning tea Room 6 went to play Parlour Games. We walked over to a big house.  The lady at the activity said in the olden days it was always ladies first so the girls went into the house first. We went into a big room which I think was a lounge. Our first game was we were split into 2 groups and lined up across the room facing each other, each group got given a string that was tied into a circle . Starting from the end you had to put the string over your body and then give it to the next person. The first group to have everybody have a turn wins! Our next game the lady gave each team a cotton ball, then put  it under your chin then the person next to you have to get the cotton ball with under their chin. Our last game was Squeak, Piggy, Squeak . Everybody sat in a circle, a person gets blindfolded and holds a cushion., the lady spins the person around then lets them go, then the person that was blindfolded goes and sits in front of another person  then the person that is sitting behind the person who is  blindfolded says “Squeak, Piggy, Squeak” then the person thats blindfolded guesses who said it. After playing games we were allowed to look around the house, first I went upstairs and had a look at the rooms then I went downstairs. We all lined up outside to get ready to go to the School House. WeSch all walked over to the School House, walking out of the School House was Mrs Mills she was going be our teacher at the School House. The girls went in first then the boys went in. Mrs Mills put us into our seats it was 2 people to a seat I sat next to my friend Deja. First we had to copy something off the chalkboard. I wrote on a slate there was ink too but I wrote on a slate. Next we had a spelling test. It was girls against boys, girls won! After going to the School House we went to build trolleys or some people call it Go Karts. Our teacher there was Mrs White. We were split into 4 groups. Everybody was working as a team except  Zheiyna and David just kept on arguing over who was going to do that and who was going to do that. Unfortunately we didn’t  finish out trolleys. When were making our trolleys it was going jiggly wiggly. After making our trolleys we had lunch. Again I had lunch with Julia. Next we took a tour.

Mrs Moodley split us up into 2 groups. I stayed with Rebecca. Rebecca was the lady that is in charge of taking us around in the Tour. First we looked around the village. Next we had to identify what didn’t belong in the 1800s. In the tent there was a toothpaste that didn’t belong in the 1800s. Awhile after we all met, back at the house we started, my group won! I really enjoyed the Tour. All the seniors met where we made our karts. We said Thank you to all the ladies. We all walked over to the two buses. In the bus I sat next to my friend Dawn. After awhile we got school all tired of walking around. It was great to see what life and schools were like in the olden days!

This term we learned about the Past, Present and Future. Here is my groups presentation, feel free to comment below and I will try to get back as soon as possible.

Mother's Day

My Mum Is The Best!
Having a Mum like mine is like water to a flower and air to a balloon. My mum is the best because she tries her best to spend time with me and my brothers even though she is really tired. My mum is a single mum, she gets up very early at 5:00am and gets me and my baby brother ready for school and drops me and my little brother off to my nana’s house, then she goes to work. My mum gets home like about 8:00 or 9:00 at night, so after school I go back to my nana’s house and wait until she comes back from work. When we get home she makes dinner or sometimes she buys dinner and then goes to sleep. She doesn’t get much sleep because my baby brother gets up once or twice in the night. I love my mum so much, my mum is not only my mum but she is my friend too who I can share things with. I thank God for my mum. No one will ever replace my mum. I don’t know how to thank my mum. I love spending time with my mum. I have a very special bond with her. My mum is so special, you are simply the best! Mum is a special word it's the loveliest I have ever heard!
I LOVE MY MUM WITH ALL MY HEART AND I WILL ALWAYS!
