Cross Country

On a sunny and hot Friday afternoon the whole school got ready for..... Cross Country! I was so excited but kind of nervous at the same time. Our class (Room 6) had a shared lunch with chips, muffins, biscuits and more. I got changed then I went to the shared lunch.

The bell rang and everybody lined up in their classes and the teachers talked about what was going to happen next. We all walked in excitement to the tennis courts and lined up in our age groups.

The Juniors went first. They ran around the hall, around the church, then around the tennis courts and then sat down. The Seniors cheered loudly for the Juniors as they ran. All the Juniors ran and then it was time for the Seniors to run. The 13 year olds ran first so they were in the front then the 12 year olds, and finally it came to my turn to run. My heart was beating so fast it almost jumped out of my chest. Miss G yelled, “Get ready, set, GO!”

I jogged in the beginning and ran and ran. I took Mrs Moodley’s advice when she said to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth. I was running with Genevieve and she already had a stitch at the beginning of the race, I told her told her to breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth, so she tried it, and it worked plus her stitch went away.

I ran and I was almost up to the finish line. I ran up the driveway into the courts and Miss G said, “Run around the courts once then sit.” So I did and I came 5th. When everybody finished their races Miss G said, “Well Done!” to all of us.

After the races Dawn and I had to go film our presentation for SPX TV but I was so exhausted I didn’t feel like going. I was so proud of myself and that I finished the race and came 5th.

Tug of War

Victory for Room 6!

Yesterday, I was lucky to watch the Paris Games Tug of War. The Room 6 team entered the event centre. The men walked into the Stadium and the crowd went Wild. The London City Police Officers were also present and there were picnics and County Fairs. There were eight men chosen for each team. To defeat their opponents team members had to pull the other team six feet from the mark to win. The two amazing teams pulled and pulled, they were sweating and the crowd just didn't stop cheering and shouting. 5 minutes to go Room 6 pulled even harder, 10 seconds left the crowd counted down from 10, the teams pulled and pulled. 3, 2, 1! In those few seconds Room 6 pulled the other team six feet. VICTORY! What a tragic loss for the other team. The crowd jumped out of their seats cheering and shouting. Everyone shouted as loud as their voices could go. Those 8 men will never forget the day they made VICTORY!

Women's Basketball

Women’s Basketball

Women’s Basketball is one of the Olympic Events. There are 14 players on a team, but there are only 6 players on court and the others are reserves. To play basketball you have to play fairly, train hard and be fast.

Women’s Basketball is where 2 teams compete against each other to win. So they try to shoot the ball into the hoop to get a point. If they shoot from the 2 pointer line, then they add 2 points to the score just like if you shoot from the 3 pointer line. There are 4 quarters in one Basketball Game.

An example is yesterday's event where the USA competed against France. In the first quarter USA was in the lead. In the last few seconds USA managed to defeat France. The USA celebrated their  Victory!

Basketball is an enjoyable sport that anyone can play!
